Sample Thank You Letter For Wedding Gifts / Attendance

Courtesy calls that every newly wed should send out thank you notes to all the wedding guests regardless if they’ve brought a gift or not. There’s no jail-time for couples who don’t but it’s a great gesture to send out to all your guests and show how much you appreciated their presence and gifts.

In my opinion, each wedding thank you note should be personalized. This makes the gesture sincere and allows you to express gratitude for the individual gifts and efforts of each guest. You can still prepare a template for guests you barely know or one for the groomsmen, another for the bridesmaids or flower girls.

Wedding Thank You LetterThere are no specific rules when sending out thank you notes but it’s best if you can incorporate something they did or gave to put a more personal touch to the note.

So, if you’re a bit lost on what to say, here are a few samples you can go through. Hopefully it inspires you to write your thank you notes easily.

For your parents

Your parents deserve more than just a template so make sure to pour out your gratitude and let them know you appreciate every little thing they’ve done for you.

Dear Mom and Dad,

We’re very grateful for your generous gift. We promise to put it into good use – Adam thinks we might just get a car sooner than we thought!

Also, thank you for the love and support you’ve given us for the last few months. You were always there for us when we needed you. For the numerous things we can never repay you enough, thank you very much.

We love you,

Adam and Sheila

For your Best Man

Your best man covered a lot of responsibilities. So aside from a thank-you gift, make your note more elaborate.

Dear Jess,

You’re the best! Thank you for the awesome bachelor party! (I’ll make it up to you over a couple of drinks soon!) Also, I appreciate all your help during the wedding day! You went out of your way to make sure everything’s perfect. Thanks for bringing the ring and organizing the groomsmen! You covered all your duties well and wouldn’t dream of having another best man other than you!

It was an honor to have you as a friend and my best man! I can’t thank you enough!

For your Maid of Honor

She’s been your personal assistant throughout the wedding preparations and endured any bridezilla moments on your part, thank you will never be enough but make your thank you card counts.

Dear Katherine,

You’re my best friend and I’m very grateful that you were beside me during a very special day in my life. I can’t thank you enough for everything you’ve done for me. The bridal shower was wonderful and the time you’ve given to help me shop for a dress, do my makeup, prepare the invitations and so much more is priceless! I can’t thank you enough!

I’m so blessed to have you by my side!

For relatives and close friends

It’s best to incorporate little details about your guest to show that you noticed their presence during the wedding day.

Aunt Mia and Uncle Marty,

The blankets will keep us warm for a lot of nights to come! Thank you for the gift and for gracing our very special day. You gave a very touching speech. Uncle Marty and Aunt Mia, that was a very sweet song you sang for us!

We’re looking forward to catching up with you guys after the honeymoon!

Thank you again!

Sincerely yours,

Mr. and Mrs. Alexander

For guests who gave cash or gift check as a gift

It’s best to let the guest know how you used or will use the cash or gift check.

Sarah and John,

Thank you for your gift! We intended to save up for a new couch by the end of the year but thanks to you, we’ve visited IKEA and we’ll have a new couch by the end of the month! Again, many thanks for thinking about us and being there on our very special day!

Its like you read my mind! You appear to know so much about this,
like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you could do
with a few pics to drive the message home a little bit, but instead of that, this is wonderful blog.
A fantastic read. I’ll definitely be back.
